Bio

Joel Carter is a 9-year-old rising hip-hop artist whose love for music began almost as soon as he could talk. A rising 4th grader, Joel combines creativity, confidence, and a positive message to inspire audiences of all ages. Whether he’s performing on stage, writing lyrics, or learning how to produce beats, his passion for music shines through in everything he does.
Joel’s journey took an exciting turn in December 2024 when he met Gwen at the National Black Doll Museum in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. When asked, “What are you good at?” Joel confidently replied, “I know how to rap!” That simple but bold response opened the door to opportunities that would launch his career as a young performer.
Just one month later, Joel made his debut at an Art of Poetry event, performing his first original song, “Wonderfully Made,” which he co-wrote with his family. Since then, he has continued to expand his catalog of original music with songs including “Best Life,” “Motivated,” “Frederick Douglass,” “Summertime,” “Dreams,” and “In My Soul.” Every song reflects Joel’s personality, imagination, and desire to encourage others through music.
In just over a year, Joel has performed at numerous community events and festivals throughout New England, including the National Black Doll Museum, BAMFest Kidchella Stage in Boston, multiple Juneteenth celebrations, school talent showcases, Halloween community events, and youth entrepreneurship fairs. His energetic performances, authentic stage presence, and uplifting lyrics have earned him invitations to perform for audiences across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
One of Joel’s biggest accomplishments came when he auditioned for The Search RI, where he was selected as a Top 45 contestant and advanced to the Finale as one of the competition’s final 24 performers. The experience helped him grow tremendously as both a performer and an artist.
Today, Joel continues to write, record, perform, and collaborate with his family while developing new skills in songwriting, beat-making, and performance. His goal is simple: to create music that inspires young people to dream big, believe in themselves, and embrace who they are.
Joel Carter is more than a young rapper—he is an emerging artist, performer, and creative storyteller with a bright future ahead. As he continues to grow, he looks forward to sharing his music with even more audiences and using his platform to make a positive impact.
